SUMMARY:Informational Session – Canada’s participation at the Expo 2020
DESCRIPTION:The leadership teams of the Business Councils\, Global Affairs Team Expo\, and the Commissioner General’s office are proposing to have an information session regarding Canadian business participation and events around Expo 2020. The date and time discussed is October 19 at 10:00 am ET / 6:00 pm UAE. Apologies for the late timing in the UAE\, but our hope is to welcome businesses from across Canada (7:00 am in BC). \nWhy? \nAlthough there have been many presentations about Expo\, the Business Councils feel that it would be very helpful to put together a presentation for our Boards and members (and other special contacts) to review the Canadian calendar of events and activities\, the services available at the Pavilion\, and the support that collectively we are able to provide to Canadian businesses interested in attending Expo. \nWho? \nThose invited to attend would include the members and contacts of our four business councils\, the Global Affairs team including our interested trade commissioners in the region\, and other Canadian groups particularly interested in participating in Expo. The format would be by moderated webinar on the Zoom platform with Q&A through the chat function. \nAgenda & Speakers  (please click on the hyperlinks below to view the presentations): \n1) Welcome & Overview of Expo from Ambassadors Marcy Grossman and Fahad Saeed Al Raqbani; \n2) Description of the Canadian Pavilion and its available facilities by Deputy Commissioner General Michael Bailey; \n3) TCS Supported Programming\, Calendar of Events and Commercial Assistance\, Lindsay Margenau\, Senior Trade Commissioner; \n4) Business Councils Calendar of Events and Missions over the six months: \n\nCBC Dubai & Northern Emirates\, Colin Beaton\, Chair;\nCBC Abu Dhabi\, Katherine Verrier-Fréchette;\nCanada UAE Business Council\, Nour Kechacha;\nCanada Arab Business Council\, Cathy Seguin\, President\n\n

SUMMARY:E-commerce Virtual Trade Mission 1-4 February\, 2021
DESCRIPTION:  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event \nCABC\, in partnership with the Toronto Region Board of Trade\, World Trade Centre Toronto and the Trade Commissioner Service\, is hosting a Virtual Trade Mission supporting e-commerce companies to access the potential of the Gulf Region’s vast digital consumer market. A call out to Canadian brands to register for this unique opportunity to connect with the best-in-class subject matter experts and one-on-one meetings with industry buyers and partners. \nMarket Overview \n\nThe Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) consisting of six member states (Bahrain\, Kuwait\, Oman\, Qatar\, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates) is one of the largest regions in the world with a combined GDP of $3.65 trillion and a population of 54 million. Middle Eastern markets have the highest per capita spending on luxury products and the average annual online spend in Saudi Arabia and UAE is between $600-$1\,300.\n\nE-commerce in the region has seen a jump in market value from $5 billion in 2015 to a projected $21 billion by the end of 2020. The GCC is a political economic alliance and common market that eases the movement of goods and services amongst citizens. This enhances opportunities for Canadian firms selling to the region—for example\, selling to the UAE allows access to the Saudi Arabian market and vice versa.\n\nSaudi Arabia is the largest market in the region with a population of 34.3 million and a GDP of $782 billion which accounts for 47% of the region. The total value of the e-commerce market for consumer goods was estimated at $6.31 billion in 2020\, a 28% increase over the previous year. 64% of Saudis now report buying a product or service online every month.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDay 1 – Presentation and Recording\n\n\n\n\nRegional Market Overview and Opportunities for E-commerce: Main trends\, Opportunities and Challenges  – Trade Commissioner Service\nThe UAE as a Gateway Market to the Gulf Region – Canada UAE Business Council\nHow to Expand your E-commerce Business Internationally – Dubai Commercity\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWebinar Recording CLICK HERE.
