George Monize

Biography

George Monize was appointed Vice-President, Global Business Development in September 2022 after joining Export Development Canada (EDC) in 2020 as the Vice-President, Sales Excellence. In his current capacity, George is responsible for EDC’s overseas operations and global offices, which includes key account management and strategic business development activities for all international customers and prospects.

George brings more than 20 years of experience in sales leadership, enablement, payments, and solution development. In his previous role as Vice-President of Sales Excellence at EDC, he led several key areas core to EDC’s function including Sales Enablement, Change Management, Reporting & Analytics, and Product Innovation. Additionally, George founded and chaired EDC’s Black Employee Resource Group (BERG) whose objective is to take a leadership role in promoting inclusion and equity by raising awareness, fostering professional development, and enriching the experience of EDC’s Black community.

Prior to joining EDC, George was the Head of Channel & Partner Relations and chair of the Diversity & Inclusion committee at Chase Merchant Services Canada (a business division of JPMorgan Chase). In his role, George led the overall sales and distribution strategy for the business, while being responsible for strategic business development planning and strengthening strategic and technology partnerships to fuel Chase’s growth throughout Canada.
