Biography

Marc James is a partner at Fasken, one of Canada’s leading law firms offering a full range of services in over 50 industries to clients around the world. His practice specializes in complex litigation and conflict resolution, focusing primarily on commercial real estate. He regularly pleads before all courts and tribunals, notably in the context of extraordinary remedies such as provisional and interlocutory injunctions, as well as safeguard measures. In addition to his practice in real estate law, Marc James regularly advises clients on the application of specific legal regimes, such as the Canadian Charter, the Québec Charter, the Charter of the French Language, the Consumer Protection Act and the specific rules pertaining to class actions.

Since 2017, Marc James is secretary on the board of Hay Doun, a charitable organization which assists migrant families refugees in Quebec. He has been on the board for the Canada-Arab Business Council since 2023.

Marc James received his law degrees in both Civil and Common Law from McGill University, where he returned to coach students in appellate level competitions from 2016 to 2023. He also obtained an M.Phil from the Université de Montréal. He is a member of the Quebec bar since 2013.
