Since 2009, Michael has been the Chief Marketing and Enrolment Officer at Appleby College where he is responsible for the design and implementation of the school’s admissions, brand, and communications strategies. A member of the school’s Leadership Team, Michael also sits on the school’s Ventures Board and is a member of the Finance, Risk and Advancement committees of the Board of Governors. During his fifteen years at Appleby, Michael has overseen the growth and expansion of the school’s brand. Today, Appleby is recognized as one of the world’s leading independent day and boarding schools attracting students from over 45 different countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Egypt, and Jordan.
Prior to joining Appleby, Michael held senior executive positions with several leading North American telecommunications, printing, and energy sector companies. He is also the founder of CEM Strategy, a networked consulting practice that assisted companies in enhancing their marketing and customer strategies, where he led consulting engagements on behalf of clients in North America, the Middle East and Asia. Michael has also previously served as a Special Assistant to Canada’s Minister of Supply and Services and to the Associate Minister of National Defence.
In addition to the Canadian Arab Business Council, Michael is a member of the Board of Directors of Community Living Oakville and is a past Chair of the Scouts Canada Foundation. He has also served on the advisory boards for a number of technology start-up companies.
A graduate of Carleton University (Honours BA) and Saint Mary’s University (MBA), Michael and his family live in Oakville.
