As we bring 2025 to a close, I am proud to reflect on a year marked by renewed momentum, strengthened partnerships, and strategic opportunities for Canada–MENA engagement. This has been a transformative year for the Canada Arab Business Council, one in which our community of members, partners, and government stakeholders worked together to advance shared priorities in trade, investment, and innovation.
A defining moment this year was Prime Minister Carney’s visit to the United Arab Emirates—his first major mission to the region—which resulted in a landmark $70 billion investment commitment to Canada. This historic announcement underscores the deepening strategic alignment between Canada and the MENA region and affirms the value of the partnerships our Council has championed for more than four decades. It also signals unprecedented opportunities for Canadian businesses across sectors including clean energy, infrastructure, technology, healthcare, education, and advanced manufacturing.
Throughout 2025, CABC continued to expand its role as a convenor and catalyst. We welcomed new members, delivered high-impact programming, and facilitated meaningful dialogue through our Annual Business Forum and Gala Dinner. Our engagements with senior government officials from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and beyond reaffirmed the growing profile of Canada as a trusted partner and a destination for long-term investment.
As we look ahead to 2026, the Council is poised to build on this trajectory of growth. We will deepen our focus on emerging sectors, strengthen our advocacy on behalf of members, and expand our bilateral initiatives to support Canadian companies entering or scaling in MENA markets. With increased government engagement and the momentum created by this year’s historic investment, 2026 promises to be a year of accelerated collaboration and tangible outcomes.
I extend my sincere thanks to our members, partners, and Board of Directors. Your commitment and leadership are the foundation of our success. Together, we will continue to build bridges, create opportunities, and shape a dynamic future for Canada–MENA economic relations.
Warm regards,
Cathy Séguin
President/Executive Director
