The Dubai Advantage – Food & Agriculture Sector Opportunities

September 9, 2020 @ 8:30 am - 10:00 am

Join the CABC, CBC Dubai, CBC Abu Dhabi and CUBC on the webinar presenting on Food & Agriculture Sector Opportunities in Dubai

Date and Time: Wednesday, September 9th @ 8.30 am (EDT) / 4.30 pm (Dubai)

With a population of 10 million and growing, the UAE is the leading food consumer within the GCC. Apart from its strong macroeconomic and demographic factors, tourism plays a vital role in boosting food consumption, with the highest inflow of tourists among all GCC countries. Currently the desert Gulf Arab states rely on food imports for 80-90% of local demand and have invested billions of dollars on agricultural ventures outside their borders.

The continued challenge to secure and create sustainable food sources combined with future and growing health trends drives the quest for new technological solutions that support farming in arid climates, enable efficient irrigation and promote local organic food production.

In addition, the UAE’s strategic location and strong logistics sector are a significant link in the region’s food chain. The country has become the world’s third largest re-exporter of food.

Many distributors and retail chains operate in the wider region and use the UAE with its excellent logistics and warehousing as a base for re-exports, thereby offering additional value add and sales opportunities to international suppliers.
