Celebrates 40 Years of Promoting Bilateral Trade and Investment

May 19, 2023by admin

Toronto, ON – The Canada Arab Business Council (CABC) will celebrate 40 years of promoting deeper economic relations between Canada and the MENA region at its upcoming annual Gala Dinner & Business Forum.

Hosted at Toronto’s Delta Hotel on May 29th and 30th, the event will feature a number of distinguished business leaders, policymakers and government officials from Canada and the Arab world, including the Arab ambassadors to Canada. Together, these speakers will examine the growing commercial ties between the two regions, while also highlighting new and innovative opportunities across a range of established and emerging sectors.

Speakers on the program include federal and provincial ministers, assistant deputy ministers from Global Affairs and some of the top business executives involved in trade and investment with the Arab world.

The anniversary event also affords CABC the opportunity to recognize three prominent Arab-Canadian leaders: Dr. Mohamed Lachemi, President and Vice-Chancellor of Toronto Metropolitan University; Dr. Reem Bahdi, Dean of Law at the University of Windsor; and Jad Shimaly, Chair & CEO of EY Canada. These individuals will receive the CABC’s Outstanding Arab Canadian Achievement Award for their remarkable contributions to the business and cultural fabric of Canada.

“For 40 years, the Canada Arab Business Council has been instrumental in forging meaningful commercial bonds between Canada and the MENA region, cementing new pathways for trade and investment and identifying unique opportunities for cross-border collaboration,” said Scott Jolliffe, Past Chair of CABC.

“As we approach an increasingly uncertain geopolitical climate, the task of maintaining and strengthening these ties with the Arab world is as critical as ever. This event is as much about thoughtfully considering the CABC’s future role as it is about celebrating past achievements.”
